God's works of art

Our youngest daughter is a gifted quilter. After hearing me speak about these verses in Ephesians, she said to me, with a smile, that a quilt is a useful work of art. As I thought about how quilts are made and used, I realised that she was right. Depending on the quilt’s intended purpose, the quilter chooses the fabrics, pattern, size and the intricacy of the design. Although many quilts are created to be objects of beauty – and we have several of our daughter’s quilts displayed in our home – most are made to be used. We have one spread across our bed, and we have some smaller ones that we use to keep warm in during chilly winter
evenings.

Just as a master quilter carefully constructs quilts, so our God has created us specifically for the good works that our particular skills, tal- ents and gifts can meet. God has stitched us in love and graced us with faith; it is our responsibility to follow his way for us and reach out to those he brings across our path. We are to serve God as useful works of art.

Prayer: Thank you, God, for creating us as your works of art. Help us to use our gifts and talents to surround others with your love. Amen

It looks very slick and professional which in itself gives glory to God. Not only will it help the Deaf Christians in this country but it will also be an excellent resource for those of us interpreters who interpret in Christian settings. I pray that God continues to bless you in this initiative and look forward to testimonies of Deaf people that have come to faith through watching them as well. WE
