Recently a routine eye exam revealed a macular hole in my left eye. I had not noticed any changes in my vision, but I was suddenly in danger of losing my sight and needed surgery immediately.

Anxiety overwhelmed me. I tried to cope on my own by reading  scripture and reciting memorised verses, including today’s verse. I reached out to my minister to ask for prayers for my doctors, my husband and me. I began to feel some relief. I was hesitant to seek help on social media, but what better way to ask for prayers from many friends?

As I was getting ready the night before surgery, I was surrounded by calm feelings of peace, warmth and safety. My anxiety left me. I felt the prayers working in my life in a way I had never felt before. Reading the thoughts and prayers of my social media friends helped me face my health issue. Reaching out to others who share my faith in God gave me strength. I know prayer works, so I continue to pray for others no matter how the request comes.

Prayer: Dear God, thank you for the strength Christ brings us when we pray. Amen

Fantastic! I’m so thrilled by God’s goodness that He has brought about such a wonderful way of communicating His love and Gospel to Deaf people. I’m convinced God will use it to His glory and that it will be an effective means of nurturing Deaf Christians for whom church and the Bible is often difficult. You can be assured of my prayers in asking our Father to use these means to reach Deaf people who would never dream of entering a church building. KS
